Janet Chiponda was born in Ghana and moved to the UK in her teens. She's the last of three siblings. Surrounded by family since childhood in Ghana, she was always around her cousins, whom she refers to as brothers and sisters. They all spent a lot of time at their grandparents' large, storied house, where they tended to hover around and play until they fell asleep on a custom-made bed big enough for about twenty of them at the time!
She's always imagined herself being a chef from a young age, where she would cook for all the family whenever they gathered at their grandparents' house. This was also the beginning of her love for food art which later turned into Town Planning and finally settled on being an Author and a Chartered Accountant.
Janet is married to her university sweetheart and motivator in chief , Tinashe, with whom she raises two beautiful children. She describes them as her pride and joy, whose endless demand for stories sparked her interest in writing. Their imaginations are set alight by stories about the world, its wonders, and their place in it. Janet's other love when she isn't writing is singing in her church choir, which she finds is a most relaxing and enriching pursuit after a day of raising two children, balancing a career, and thinking up the weirdest and most wonderful ways to inspire the two inquisitive minds she and her husband are raising.
Writing for Janet stemmed from reading and seeing the effects of stories her children loved to hear about perseverance, patience, and making the most of opportunity in all its forms. She sees writing as a way of reaching out to children who always benefit from hearing stories about hope, reassurance, and overcoming circumstances. A firm believer that society benefits when children are made to feel safe, loved, and valued, Janet always tries to infuse hope and optimism into all her stories, which is also her way of getting young readers to discover their limitless potential. Her stories have a fun but thought-provoking element which triggers debate presenting an opportunity for children to think and talk about situations and dilemmas the characters in the stories face.
Although Janet is early on her path in publishing, she continues to persevere, just like her characters from 'The MAJESTIC Royal Job,' her first picture book. Janet has resolved never to stop chasing her dreams, and encourages you to do the very same!
